Description
A one-day course which will teach you the principles behind beekeeping. You will learn about the various bee keeping methods, hives and equipment and how to care for bees and hopefully inspire you to become beekeeper yourself. Although many people attend our courses just to learn about and what to plant for bees.
The Introduction to Beekeeping course is run by highly experienced and passionate beekeeper Oliver Sinclair. He was the Chairman of East Grinstead Beekeepers Association for six years and led the organisation in improving the local community’s understanding of honey bees and mentored many avid beekeepers.
After learning about the lifecycle of bees and various theories on beekeeping, you will then be suited up for an open hive inspection. You should bring with you trousers, boots, long socks and leather or rubber gloves.
Please bring a packed lunch. We will provide you with paper plates, bamboo knives, forks and cups. We will serve tea/coffee during a morning break.
This course will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm.
Please wear appropriate clothing for woodworking outdoors i.e. trousers, sturdy boots etc.
Price: £95
n.b. This course is weather dependent. Heavy rain and wind would prevent us from opening a hive and we may have to take the decision to cancel the course. In this instance you will be notified by email and you will be able to book on to an alternative date.
