Water Sports

It’s not every day you get to try your hand at water sports, especially if you’re visiting us as a way to escape the city.

Whether you’re a keen kayaker, or you’re hoping to try your hand at windsurfing, here at Forest Garden Shovelstrode, we are surrounded by many opportunities to grab your wetsuit and find some adventure in the Sussex waters.

Ardingly Reservoir is one of the closest water parks to our forest cabins. They offer everything from sailing to raft building to paddle boarding – with something for the adults and the kids, it’s the perfect day out for a family of adventurers.

We are also closeby to one of the Telegraph’s top 20 wild swimming spots in the UK at Barcombe, near Lewes.

Mountain Biking

If water is not your thing, you may be looking for ways to explore Sussex on two wheels. Our Forest Row log cabins are nearby to an assortment of cycle paths with varying difficulties, meaning that no matter your ability, you can get out and about and experience the natural beauties that our home has to offer.

You may choose to bring your own bike and gear, but if you’re more of a mountain biking novice, Deers Leap in East Grinstead offers bike hires from as little as £20 – a great way to experience the great outdoors and complete an exciting workout!

Hiking

There is often nothing more satisfying than completing a lengthy walk before retreating to your log cabin or yurt for a cosy evening in the forest.

If you’re heading to Forest Garden Shovelstrode for your woodland getaway, you have a plethora of walks and hiking routes to try your hand at.

Whether it’s a gentle afternoon stroll, or you’re looking for a big challenge to test your body, choosing to explore East Grinstead on foot will allow you to take in some beautiful scenery and breathe some fresh country air that you may not get too much off if you’re visiting us from the city.

Feel free to ask us for more information about nearby hikes when you check-in to your log cabin or yurt hire.
