The weather has been absolutely fantastic as we have been busy on the next phase of planting - the shrub layer of our Forest Garden. There are three different edible bamboos, 4 types of pepper trees, a whole range of different berries and almost 20 different fruit trees such as apple, greengage, plum and cherries. The warm spring along with plenty of rain followed by hours of good sunlight have given us ideal growing conditions to get the Forest Garden underway.

The Spring Fayre over the weekend of 11th/12th was a great success with almost 1000 people coming in to  have a look. The Forest Garden cafe proved very popular and we are now looking at opening regularly on Fridays and Saturday over the Summer months offering teas/coffees and delicious baguettes. We will soon display a sign on the road so you'll know when we are open.

Our Crowd funding campaign for a new Woodland Workshop is still running for a couple more weeks - and we really need as much help as possible to get this project off the ground! Please have a look at our CROWDFUNDING page and have a look at the great rewards we are offering in return for a pledge of any size!

The spring has really kicked off over here! The early daffs and starting to fade and the late bloomers have kicked in. The bluebells are moments away and we are busy planting out the fruit trees and the first stage of the shrub layer for the Forest Garden. The bees are out and about foraging and it's wonderful to see Spring happening this year all at once.

Our crowdfunding campaign is now in full tilt and we are very grateful for the pledges that have come in so far. But we still  have a very long way to go! So please feel free to share this information with anyone you think could be interested in supporting our project to build a new Permanent Woodland Workshop. For any business wishing to offset their carbon footprint - this would be a worthy cause to get behind and could potentially have some great PR potential! Having your name carved on one of the main support beams in perpetuity or even naming the building in your honour. There are some fantastic rewards at every level of pledge. Here we will keep you posted on developments for our new Crowd Funding project for a new permanent Woodland Workshop.

This new woodland workshop will allow us to run more courses at Forest Garden Shovelstrode - catering for more people and over an extended season.

We need to raise £45,500 for the groundworks and timber frame construction. This is no small amount and we are incredibly grateful to everyone for any help or support that you are able to give us.

Even if you are not able to make a financial contribution - you would certainly be helping us by promoting us either on Facebook or Twitter or just by word of mouth....

We have some great rewards on offer for people who make a pledge of any size. For more information and to see a short film we have made about the project please Click Here

We would also love to hear your comments and feedback!
